Candles have been lighting our way for thousands of years!
Since the late 19th century paraffin was the wax of choice due to its plentiful supply as a byproduct of the oil industry. Over the years several other waxes have become popular for candle making; palm wax (derived from palm oil), beeswax (extracted from honey bee hives), soy wax (derived from soybean oil) and most recently coconut wax (derived from coconut oil).
Paraffin wax is very low cost and known for its strong burning and scent properties, but paraffin wax candles are notoriously fast burners. Palm oil is unfortunately, grown and harvested in an unsustainable and destructive manner. Beeswax is a sustainable wax that burns a long time however, it holds almost no scent. Soy wax is another lower cost wax but does not have the most ideal burn qualities; it burns slowly, which is good but it has trouble throwing scent and often has a rough top once the wax cools, which is not aesthetically pleasing.
Coconut Soy Wax
Wax is the largest component of a candle, it is the fuel that allows them to burn. We believe coconut soy wax is the safest, most sustainable wax that produces the best performing candle.
Our coconut soy wax blend is toxin free, paraben free, phthalate free and comes from renewable sources. Our wax does have a tiny amount of highly-refined, food-grade (which puts it in the natural category) paraffin in it to enhance the throw of scent while burning.
Coconut wax is much more expensive than paraffin or soy wax, but the appearance and performance are so worth it!
